大学森林

A clear, starry night. The pounding of the surf at the ocean’s edge. A beautiful blue sky. The sound of a running stream, a steady rain, and thunder. Birds chirping in a grove of trees.

The wonder and power of nature is all around us. More and more evidence shows that spending time in nature is good for our health and overall well-being. To date, research has shown that the psychological, physical and behavioral 好处 to spending time in nature include:

  • Short term memory and concentration
  • Creativity and imagination
  • Mental well-being: less anxiety and depression, improved mood
  • 身体健康
  • 睡眠质量
  • 降低压力
  • Boosts to immune system
  • Restoration of mental energy
  • Social connection and improved quality of relationships (get out there with others!)

研究 shows that at least 120 minutes in nature per week (less than 20 minutes per day) improves health and psychological well-being significantly more than not visiting nature at all.  And it doesn’t matter if the 120 minutes is achieved in a single visit or over several shorter visits.

You also don’t need to travel far distances to the mountains or the ocean (though they are both wonderful places to be out in nature); any green space can bring 好处. 你可以找到 plenty of space to rest and play 在UNH外面.
